The MedTech <\/a>sector in Ireland already employs around 25,000 people across 250 companies and generates sales in excess of \u20ac8 billion per year. The industry in Galway received a further boost this summer when it was announced that US giant Surmodics would create 100 new jobs<\/a> in the county over the next five years, with the company intending to invest \u20ac10m in the former Creagh Medical plant in Ballinasloe.
